Michael Manning is an illustrator, writer, comic book artist, tattoo designer, and traditionally trained animator. His best known works include The Spider Garden and Tranceptor graphic novel series and the art collections Lumenagerie and  Inamorata. He has drawn comics adaptations of the work of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Alexandre Dumas, and others for the Graphic Classics series.

 

Manning's artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums internationally and in the USA including a feature spot in Fantastic! The Art Of Comics And Illusion at San Francisco's prestigious Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. His illustrations for the German epic poem The Nibelungenlied inspired a multi-media performance that was produced for the Ring Festival in 2010 in partnership with the LA Opera. His graphic novel The Spider Garden has been published in French, German, and Italian language editions.

 

Born in New York and raised in Massachusetts, Manning's first published work appeared in 1987. A California resident since 1991, he currently lives and works in Downtown Los Angeles.
